Nice to see you! I hope in our new organisation structure , we can find fresh
idea for give real action for argument and new spirit to lead the way we think.
Well, it always
great to talk how a debate going, what happen in it’s flow and what information
can we get on it. But in this first section of
“Summarize Of Debate” column on our pride newsletter “Voice of argUMent”,
I will show you the the beginning and important part of being a debaters. Then,
I will tell you flash information about basic thing in debate. So, in the next
section, you will take more interest in read the persistencee of a debate.
The basic
principle of debate is “COY”. What is it?? ‘C’ for “comperhend”, it’’s mean
that you only have to say what your opinion and how do tou feel about a problem
no matter you have a mistake in grammar or structure. ‘O’ for
Observe, it’s tell that you have to know
the system and some term of debate . In general, there is two well-known
system, that is Australian Parlimentary System and British Parlimentary System,
but in University, we usually use
British Parlimentary System. And ‘Y’ for Yield, it’s emphasized you to keep
your good attitude during debate, like: Don’t
blame each other, Don’t monk your friend, you need style, confident and
don’t be angry whatever happen.
In British
Parlimentary System, there are for team, they are opening goverment, closing
goverment, opening opposition and closing opposition. Every team consist of two
people. Every person have his/her own
task and order of turn that can devide as folows:
v First
Person of Opening goverment : He/she have
to give the background and issue, giving the definition and limitation if it is
needed, show room of debate, determine team split and give an argumentation.
v First
Person of Opening Opossition: He/she have to give the rebutal of first person
of opening goverment’s argumentation, define new definition if he/she don’t
agree with first person of opening goverment definition, devide team split and
give his/her own argumentation.
v Second
Person of Opening goverment: Her/his task is defend his/her friend
argumentation, rebutal opposition team argumentation and give his/her own
argument.
v Second
Person of Opening Opossition: Her/his task is generally equal with The Second
Person of Opening goverment.
v First
Person of Closing goverment: He/She have
the duty of rebutal Opposition team’s
argumentation, give case extension, determine team split and show his/her
argumentation.
v First
Person of closing Opossition: He/she have equal task with First Person of
Closing goverment.
v Second
Person of Closing goverment: His/Her task is give rebutal for Closing
Opposition’s argumentation, defend his/her friend argumentation and show
his/her own argumentation.
v Second
Person of Closing Opossition: His/Her task is give rebutal for Closing
Goverment’s argumentation, defend his/her friend argumentation and give
comparition of all team’s argumentation.
There are many
other thing about debate. But I think we wont have enouht space to write them all here. However, our topic in
this edition must be increase your interest in debate and improve your
knowledge, isn’t it? Just remember, don’t be shy, stay confident and...........
