argUMent General Meeting (GM) 2013

General Meeting or GM is one of argUMent main agendas. argUMent GM was held on 4^th until 5^th of January 2013. This meeting was located at UNRAM’s Library (UPT. Perpustakaan). The theme of GM this year is “Recharge Your Spirit, Prepare Your Courage, Ready for The Challenge”. This meeting aim to choose the new president of argUMent. However, choosing the new leader is not that easy—that’s why this event must take two days long. On the first day, as usual, there would be a short speech from Chief of Committee, President of argUMent 2012, and PR III. After that, the event was completely started. The first agenda was discussing about The Rule of The Meeting. The rules contained how to give our opinion properly, how to interrupt someone’s opinion properly, even how to ask for permission to leave the room properly and so on. It took more than an hour—I don’t know why it must be that hard to make the rule. This first agenda finished before Jumuah Prayer’s time. At 1.30, we came back again for had lunch and continued to the next agenda. That ‘next agenda’ was discussing The Basic Rules and The General Rules of argUMent (Aturan Dasar and Aturan Rumah Tangga). However, based on The Rule of The Meeting, we had to choose the leader of this meeting. After discussing around 30 minutes, we finally got Muhammad Zulhalky as the leader and Masri Asril as the second leader. Those two agenda finished at 6.20.

The first day mostly discussed about the rules. However, on the second day, we were going to the main agenda which is choosing the New President. Before that, we had to listen to the report of responsibility from the current core members of argUMent. In this draft, the core members were required to report what they had done and what they had not been in a year period and they were fully responsible of the things that were unapplied. Here was the chance for the participants to give their opinions freely but properly. The next agenda was the election of the new argUMent’s president by all of the participants. The candidates of the new president must pass some categories both in academic and non-academic. The ability in Leadership was also qualified. After the elimination of some candidates that weren’t passing the category, the remaining candidates would be choosing again by the DPO with multiple considerations. Then, the DPO announced Mr. Darmawan as the new president of argUMent in front of the participants. After the new president received his new responsibility to lead argUMent symbolically, the second president of argUMent, Mr. Mahurni, lead us to pray together for the next argUMent and the General Meeting was closed by saying Alhamdulillah together.
